Matthew Matt James was born in North Carolina on December 5 1991. He is the daughter of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. He has the Nigerian father as well as a Caucasian mother. James graduated in 2010 from Sanderson High School. In 2015, he received an undergraduate degree in Economics at Wake Forest University. James was a household name as he made his television debut on the reality star during The Bachelorette. He was selected in 2020 to play the 25th season bachelor in The Bachelor, becoming the first African American lead. The season premiered in 2021. James seems to be the ideal candidate for the job as his height, beauty and physique are humorous. Season ended when James picked Rachael Krkconnell to pursue an intimate relationship with the actress. He joined forces with famed choreographer Arnold in 2021, to take part on season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold placed 12th.
